Further Information
Alpines Museum des DAV (Alpine Museum of DAV)
The history of alpinism is the subject of the Alpine Museum of the German Alpine Association (DAV) and this comprises mountains and the Alps, mountain climbing, Alpinism and the German Alpine Association itself.
A permanent exhibition informs about the touristic conquest of the Alps. Furthermore there are regular exhibitions on special alpine subjects. In 2013 the museum was given about 200 water colour paintings and other paintings by the inheritors of the brothers Hermann von Schlagintweit, Adolph von Schlagintweit and Robert von Schlagintweit. They had painted them from 1854 to 1857 during their expeditions to India, Nepal, Tibet and Turkestan.
