Munich central railway station exists since 1839 and at today´s location since 1848. It has been reconstructed and extended several times. During the Second World War Munich central railway station suffered heavy damages due to severe bombings and in February 1945 the railway station had to be shut down. But as of July 1945 trains were already operating again.
One of the biggest railway stations in Germany
Munich central railway station and Hamburgs main railway station are the most frequented railway stations in Germany. In Munich 32 rail tracks lead into the terminal station. This means that rail tracks don´t go through the station but terminate there and trains have to leave the station in reverse direction.
From Munich central railway station you can get to many destinations in Germany. Furthermore direct trains go to Austria, Italy, France and Switzerland.
